Art Myers introduces Laura Simpson, Animal Communicator, in his book "Communicating with Animals: the Spiritual Connection Between People and Animals".
"Laura was born and brought up -- fourth generation -- in Fairfield, Iowa, a town of 9700 in the southeastern corner of the state. Except for college years at the University of Wisconsin, she has spent almost all of her life in Fairfield. She's old family. But she isn't exactly the sort of person you'd expect to find out there where the corn is as high as an elephant's eye. In fact for New Age hipness, she'd fit in perfectly in Greenwich Village or Berkeley.
"Laura seems to have been a practicing psychic from day one of her life. She says, "My mother recognized early on that I had the ability to talk to and hear animals. She could do that, too, so she helped foster it in me. My grandmother was also psychic and very supportive and nurturing of my ability.
"Her father was a lawyer, and tended to be more left-brain, involved with the mundane matters of this world. What a life he must have led with those three exotic women!
"Laura majored in early childhood education in college and returned to Fairfield as a social worker. In her job, she was often called on to testify in child abuse cases. "It was very draining work," she says.
After some years, she searched for more congenial employment, and became secretary to a well-known psychic. Before long, the psychic was telling Laura that should be doing the same thing. "She pretty much pushed me to hang out my own shingle," Laura says. Laura gave it some thought, and decided she didn't want to deal only with people. "I feel the animals need a voice," she says. And since her social work job had constantly exposed her to the less wholesome side of human nature, animals would be refreshing. "People have so much convoluted junk on them," she said. "Animals are pretty much straightforward."
She told me that she found eight out of the first ten lost animals she worked on, which is quite extraordinary. "I'm the one," she said, "that other animal communicators refer people to, because my success rate is about 80 percent.
And indeed a couple of well-known animal communicators mentioned to me spontaneously that Laura was definitely somebody I ought to contact if I were writing about finding lost animals.
